Time to admit it. It had been god knew how many days and the weather was so much worse than she had ever seen coming and now the terrain got harder for her to manage, nix had to admit she had no idea where she was. She gave a sigh and a small angry growl as she finally let the thought in to her head and she flicked her hand out in anger, her knife slipping through her fingers and jabbing sharply in to a tree ahead of her. She thought bad of this action only moments later and she walked forwards before wrapping her fingers around the knife and pulling on it hard, she had thrown this a lot harder than she meant to. "You are so stupid" she hissed darkly at herself as she pulled again on the blade and she felt it move in the cold wood a little but not a lot, she didnt like the cold as much as she used to. It used to be good for sneaking out the compound to go hunting and to warm up warm beside her parents, she didnt have either of those now. Her mind snapped back to the task at hand as the wind whipped up around her, she needed to get somewhere sheltered in the winds were picking up now

Being the crafty fellow that he was, Robert had made a make shift shelter out of broken tree branches, and animal pelts just beyond where he was hunting. Just in case so he would have somewhere to sleep at if he found himself out and about in the forest.
Robert was rather sick of the cold already. His fingers were getting numb from gripping tightly on his wooden spear he whittled out of a tree branch with his small combat knife. As the winds picked up Robert sighed "As if the cold and my lack of hunting skills wasn't enough...Now the wind is going to lash out at me..." he muttered as he leaned against a tree beside him scanning the horizon for any possible source of food he could replenish his pack with, "I doubt a can of carrots is going to sate my hunger for long...Better save it just in case though." he whispered to himself still being watchful hoping for any sort of game to rush after.
Nix tugged harder on her knife before she caught a sound behind her and she froze, well darn it. She let go of her knife and flicked her hand to her ruckack to grab her bow onyl to catch an arrow and she shrugged, that was as good. She could throw and she could cut with this, that would work well enough. The wind whipped past her face as if to tell her she should have moved on before but it was a bit late for that now, "I can hear you" she said in a hiss of a voice.
Her eyes snapped back to her knife in the tree behind her and she took her moment, she shifted to place her back to the tree so no-one could come up behind her. They now could either from from the right or behind her, and she was sure the sound had come from behind her. Her eyes scanned across the ground as she turned to look behind herself but she saw nothing, no foot prints aside her own and nothing moving in the bushes either. She so was not in the mood for this!
Robert was just about ready to head off to his shelter to get out of the cold when he heard a voice very faintly. In one fluent scattering motion he flipped himself behind the tree spear in hand at the ready to throw just in case. "I would be careful if I was you...I have a 9mm on hand so step out with your hands in the air!" he bluffed peaking around the tree hoping it had worked.
He had no idea what the person was armed with, they could have anything at there disposal. Knives, a bat, spear, or even a gun themselves and these were variables that Robert did not like knowing at all. ' It could be worse then all that.. Could be one of those infected...' he thought to himself eyes carefully trained at what he thought was the right tree to be watching.
No-one came out. No-one spoke. It made her uneasy.
Nix turned her head and when noting happened for a bit longer, she took her chance. She dipped her hand back in to her back on her back and pulled out her bow, using the little time she seemed to have to set her arrow in place and then came the reply. It was close, a little to the right and it sounded male. Nix tried not to but a hiss escaped her, her history with males was not the most positive. "Well come on out and shot me big man" she said in a growl of a voice as her eyes canned across the trees ahead of her, there. It was a tiny movement but it was something. Her hands shifted and her arrow was soon inline with the tree trunk, of course she wouldn't shot without reason but it would hardly hurt to have the short ready and lined up. This world wasn't set up for kind souls and freindly strangers
Robert was getting eager waiting for the person to either attack or come out as he requested. Instead, he received a reply challenging him to come out, the voice was that of a female.
"Listen here girl...You are not about to catch me off guard!" He yelled as loud as he could spear in hand as he flipped from behind the trunk running to his left tossing the spear as hard as he could at the tree she was hiding behind letting it hit the base of the trunk, burying itself deep inside to hopefully scare the girl from looking out. As he ran he noticed a larger tree to hide behind. He dove as quickly as he could hopefully to make it in time before being shot, or spotted. 'I hope she isn't armed!' he screamed in his head.
The voice came back defiant and nix found a small dark smile cross her face, well they was more fun that a little boy just rolling over. She saw him move and she lifted her hand but then she saw it, a spear coming at her. She pushed off the tree and rolled to one side in to the bushed as it sang past her leg and stuck itself in the tree trunk, her turn. She snapped her gaze up and let her arrow fly in to the trunk of another tree that the male had taken refuge behind, "Damn it, missed" she hissed to herself. She flicked her hand back to grab another arrow and then paused, why use up her hard work. She turned her body to face the tree trunk and pulled hard on the spear he had thrown, it came free a lot easier than a cold metal blade. With spear in hand, she stood up and gave a loud whistle, "Lose something?" she said in a little too playful voice
Robert having feeling a moment of safety behind the trunk began to chuckle lightly to himself 'Good my distraction was succ-'. His thoughts were cut off as a arrow had plunged into the trunk he was hiding behind. His heart rate increased to a small panic 'What am I going to do...Think Robert Think!!!' he shouted in his mind looking around frantically for anything else to use as cover, but to no avail. Everything was to far out of reach and he would have been picked apart at a distance with ease.
Robert leaned against the tree and ripped off the white cloth bandage from his bicep and held it out as if it were a white flag. "I don't want a fight...I'm unarmed and have minimal supplies take them if you wish but we need to both walk away from this..." he stated clearly as he put the knife in his belt loop and covered it with his shirt. 'Lets see what she decides to do...She will not be robbing me that is for damn sure!'
Nix turned the spear in her hand and looked it over for a moment, there was no point. It was wooden and wittled down but had no binding or spear head on the end so it could injure but not kill, something a little more reassuring. She felt a a little better, it seemed she had the upper hand here for once. She turned as the voice came again and she spotted the white flag and her face grew into a grin again, "Well thats nice, i aint out to kill and hunt either" she said with a small laugh. Why did everyone who came out in to the woods asume that every one else in there wanted them dead or to take their stuff? Sure it wouldnt be bad to get extra supplies but then you got people coming in after you too, it was stupid in the long term really
Robert re wrapped the bandage to his arm and stood up with arms in the air to show he wasn't planning on attacking. Upon stepping out and approaching the girl he feared the worst he was a target in the open and she had a bow which gave her the advantage. Robert just shook his head and awaited the outcome. 'Either she will bury an arrow in me and take my stuff or, she is just like me trying to survive in this day and age...' he thought to himself as he stood firm if he was going to face death he would face it with a certain dignity. "Names Robert..." he stated as he stopped a couple yards away from the woman.
Nix watched carefully as the male stepped out from behind the tree and her mind snapped to work in moments, brown hair, older than her and very well built. She lowered her bow just the slightest as he moved towards her to show she wasnt planning on shooting him, without a given reason. "Most i've met dont offer names out quite so easily, apparently its a god way to get oneself killed" she said with a smirk on her face as she tilted her head to one side, a bandage on ones arm as well. She felt a little part of her pang in pain since here she would have always helped him with the berries she knew that could help but this was not the compound and she was not dealing with little kids who needed her help this time, for all she knew this could be some ambush
Robert let out a sigh of relief, thankful she didn't just shoot him on sight. Upon her reply to his name he couldn't help but grin "Well my luck hasn't run out so far, I figure just keep rolling the dice...Not like my name is going to do myself anyharm." he stated taking mental notes of the girl. He was defiantly older then her, roughly the same height he was a hair taller then the girl. "So...Miss... What are you doing out here by yourself?" Robert asked in a calm and polite tone curious as to where the girls parents were.'I am pretty sure I already know the answer to this one...But you never know.' he thought to himself eyes scanning around searching for any other signs of movement, you can never be to careful in a time like this.
As hard as she tried nix found herself being amusing by the male in front of her, even if he was older than her and clearly not a good hunter. She rolled her eyes at this words before she lowered her bow to her side and flicked the arrow back in to her bag, she could still hit him down fairly hard with just her bow and keeping it ready to shoot did make her arm ache after a little while. "I'm out for food, no point in sitting out the end of the world and thinking you'll be ok going hungry" she said with a little tilt of her head before she glanced quickly to her side, that damn knife was still stuck in the tree. She knew she had forgotten something, she would have to get that out before she went home tonight and she was sure she was close to the night side of the afternoon than the bright sunny morning side of it
Robert watched as she lowered her bow and also lowered his hands to his side. Listening to her reply he noticed she either avoided the main point of his question or just didn't catch on to it. "All I have is a can of sliced carrots I managed to scrounge earlier...It's getting rather rough to survive unless you know how to hunt it would seem." he remarked ignoring her sarcasm watching her eyes shift to her side he glanced as well and noticed a knife stuck in a tree.
Robert began to chuckle to himself and pointed at the knife stuck in the tree "Did you need help getting that knife out?" he said as serious as he could but couldn't hide his cheesy grin.
Nix very pointedly had avoided the males question but he wouldn't leave it alone, he spoke again of what he managed to get to eat and she smirked. "Carrots? it may be the end of the world but i still hate the darn things" she said with a smirk before she looked in to the bushes behind him, that was a point. She had come out here to come hunting before she had managed to get herself lost, she really should get back to that. Though her skin prickled with anger as he spoke to her again and pointed to her knife, the grin on his face was just begging to be punched clean off. She shook herself and then hissed softly at the comment, "I am more than fine, anger is the only thing keeping it in there" she said with a stubborn nod
